| Trade unions involve themselves in the active promotion of women's interests in the following manner:
- in the field of unionisation:
-
to stress that stronger unionisation of women employees will increase the effectiveness of the national and international trade union movement;
- to ensure that women employees and the community both recognise the importance of trade union organisation for women employees;
-
to grant women employees equal benefits as well as protection for their special needs;
- to find and apply ways and means for stronger unionisation of women employees.
- in the field of trade union education:
- to ensure equal access to trade union training for women employees, accompanied by care in the planning and organisation of courses so that women are able to attend (if possible during working hours) and to organise, where necessary, special courses for women;
- to include problems of women employees in the general education program of trade unions;
- to intensify trade union education in developing countries with a view to facilitating the exchange of experience of women trade unionists in industrialised and developing countries.

in the field of representation of women in trade unions:
- to recognise the value of identifying problems of women employees and to ensure that programs are developed to deal with such problems and that officials and/or committees are appointed to ensure their implementation;

to ensure that access to higher office in trade unions is open equally to women and to men;

to use fully the knowledge and experience of women trade unionists;

to encourage women trade unionists to participate in trade union activity at all levels, to assume responsibilities, to seek election to union executive office and to act as spokesmen for the trade union movement at all levels;

to ensure that the activities of women trade unionists are not limited to women's questions;
-
to include an adequate number of women trade unionists in delegations to national and international trade union congresses as well as to meetings and conferences of the International Labour Organisation.
