News National Employment Standards (NES) 2010 From 1 January 2010, employers and employees in the national workplace system are covered by the new National Employment Standards (NES). However, if you are a casual employee, please note that some entitlements will not apply to you. Where this is the case, it is stated. The NES is a strong safety net for employees which ensures fair, minimum standards of employment. It is important to note that the award or enterprise agreement you work under may provide greater entitlements in some or all areas. Where there is a difference between your award or agreement and the NES, your entitlements cannot be less than those which the NES provides. In other words, your award or agreement can only provide you with equal or better employment standards than the NES.
